What is counselling?
"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Invivo means 'in life'...
Our experiences in life affect and shape us. They're at the heart of who and what we are. At times, we all feel pain, loss, confusion, anger, frustration and sadness. Sometimes it might feel like there's something missing from our lives. We can often lose our way and struggle to be the people we want to be.
Our lives are complicated, making it hard to find time for ourselves. Sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees...
Counselling is a type of talking therapy. It allows us to talk about our lives and problems, and to explore and make sense of our thoughts and feelings. When we do this we can accept, understand and change our lives for the better, both in the present and the future.
Counselling helps us:
explore our thoughts & feelings / make sense of our experiences / increase our self-awareness / form new perspectives & options / develop our ability to make choices & take action for ourselves.
It gives us the chance to look at ourselves and make changes for the better. It can give us the knowledge and skills to tackle life on our own terms and grow into the people we hope to be.
